Kuala Lumpur, 14 June 2026 – The spirit of charity, fellowship, and community was on full display as the District Grand Lodge of the Eastern Archipelago (DGLEA), together with the ladies and brethren of Sri Damai Lodge No. 9768, successfully raised RM100,000 for the Breast Cancer Welfare Association Malaysia during the annual Ladies’ Charity Night. The event, aptly themed “White Tables for a Pink Cause”, combined one of Freemasonry’s most cherished traditions with a meaningful charitable mission.
In Freemasonry, a White Table event is a special open gathering where brethren invite family members, friends, and partners to experience the social side of the fraternity. Such occasions help foster understanding, strengthen community bonds, and showcase the charitable values that lie at the heart of Freemasonry. The “Pink Cause” symbolised the evening’s commitment to breast cancer awareness and support, represented by the universally recognised pink ribbon. Funds raised during the event, together with a generous contribution from the District, will directly support the valuable work carried out by the Breast Cancer Welfare Association Malaysia in providing care, assistance, awareness programmes, and hope to breast cancer patients and their families.
The evening featured an outstanding programme of entertainment. Guests were treated to performances by the Selangor Symphony Orchestra and renowned Malaysian comedian Harith Iskander, whose humour and charisma added to the celebratory atmosphere. Among the highlights of the night was a moving choir performance by the Ladies of Sri Damai Lodge, conducted by WBro Tai Zee How and accompanied by a live orchestra. The audience was further captivated by a heartfelt rendition of “You Raise Me Up” performed by WBro Ashveen Chakravarthy, while WBro Surendran led the traditional Ladies’ Song, enthusiastically supported by the assembled brethren. Adding to the evening’s success was a sumptuous dinner enjoyed in a warm and convivial atmosphere. The charity auction proved particularly popular, with several bottles generously donated by Sri Damai brethren attracting spirited bidding and significantly contributing to the night’s fundraising efforts. The Ladies’ Charity Night demonstrated the very best of Freemasonry in action, bringing people together in fellowship while making a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
