Kevin Choy and his younger brother Matthew Choy have achieved a remarkable milestone on the international stage, bringing pride not only to themselves but also to Lodge Helios 10060 EC and the District Grand Lodge of Eastern Archipelago.
The duo recently participated in an International Stock Picking Contest organised by the London School of Economics in collaboration with Citadel, one of the world’s top hedge funds. The competition drew an exceptionally strong field of 230 teams representing some of the most prestigious finance institutions globally, including Harvard University, Wharton School, University of Cambridge, London School of Economics, and Imperial College London.
After progressing through several rigorous rounds, Kevin advanced to the finals, placing among the top ten teams worldwide. The final stage of the competition was held in London, with all expenses—including return airfare and accommodation—sponsored by Citadel.
In an outstanding performance at the finals, Kevin and Matthew emerged as champions, securing first place ahead of strong contenders from the University of Virginia and the London School of Economics.
This achievement is made even more inspiring by Matthew’s youth—currently in his first term of Year One at Warwick—highlighting both talent and dedication at an early stage.
Adding to this success, Kevin has also been accepted into the MSc in Financial Economics programme at the prestigious University of Oxford. He is set to commence his studies in September 2026, further advancing what is already a promising academic and professional journey.
Both Kevin and Matthew are newly initiated members of Lodge Helios 10060 EC, making this accomplishment especially meaningful for the Lodge. Their success stands as a testament to the values of diligence, discipline, and the pursuit of excellence—principles deeply rooted within the Craft.
This is truly a proud moment for Lodge Helios and the District Grand Lodge of Eastern Archipelago, as these young Brethren demonstrate that with commitment and perseverance, excellence knows no bounds.
We wish the Brethren all the best in their future endeavours.
